I'm using the 1.5 A power adaptor that shipped with it (always worked fine for me), but now for some reason i turn it on, and I'll be playing it...about 10 seconds later I'll hear a ("ZZzzzzzirup") sound then the LCD screen flickers a couple of times, powers off and the unit reboots. It just continues to do this until it becomes so annoying that its unplayable. Any thoughts as to a cause and a solution to this mystery would be greatly appreciated. Its too bad, as the DSP processing on it makes it one of my favorite instruments.

Alesis Micron Screen flashes on and off then powers down
Hello synth friends. As the forum thread implies, I am having a bit of a dilemma with my Alesis Micron as of late.
Thanks guys!

Hi,
It sounds like a power issue, I would recommend to try another power supply.
Other than that, it could be a problem on the internal psu.
If you are brave and you have a multimeter, you should check for +/- 9V, 5V, 3.3V and 2.5V on the internal PSU.
The schematics can be easily found via a google search.

Re: Alesis Micron Screen flashes on and off then powers down
UPDATE: The Ablegrid 9V Adaptor did not make any difference in the Micron's behavior. It appeared to work fine for a few minutes, and then it started acting up like before. Must be something in the circuitry or a component on the board(fried capacitor maybe?) although I checked every capacitor with a flashlight and there was no charring present on the board anywhere. That being said, the Micron HAS fallen a couple of times (they are just not the right width for keyboard stands). When I run on my treadmill stuff falls.
Oh well, maybe its time for a new toy. Peace out.
Yep that's what I'm hoping for. I've got an Ablegrid 9V 1.5 A power supply on order from Amazon which will be arriving this week. I noticed that the current power supply is bent a little bit at the plug and when I straighten it the power flickering issue doesn't occur as frequently or at all. I did the diagnostics test (OCTAVE - ) and (OCTAVE +) buttons held simultaneously while powering on. The "Z" encoder knob flutters between -4 and +12 on its own without touching it
but I'm hoping this is linked to the fault in the power supply. We'll wait and see what happens and I will post the results when the new PSU comes. Thanks all!
