how much to take for a gig?

Post by knag » Mon Oct 09, 2006 5:24 pm

getting booked for an electronica festival.
Been asked about how much money we take for playing, this is our first gig but they seem excited about having us.
We will have to travel for a couple of hours by car (got a designated driver), bring quite a bit of hardware and stayover. Seems like they want us to play for a number of hours (3-4). Of course we will ask for free booze and food but what would be a reasonable charge? (cash, doh, dollars, pound sterling... etc..)

time is of an essence, since they will be expecting an answer by tomorrow.

Get all your costs covered at least!! Is it a big event? anyone "big" playing? If it's your first gig and they asked you ask for a few hundred £ each in your back pocket and haggle from there!

Ah well if it's not a big event then give them a bit of leeway.....but start at the top and make out as if your doing them a favour by reducing your fee........think to yourself "how much am I worth?"
