How practical is it too use the k2000 as a sampler in a live setting. Is it possible with out adding a peripheral drive or internal drive? What's the most efficiant way of doing this? Would I be foolish in using a software sampler instead or can I do that with my K2000?
thanks
Zack

I've used a K2500RS in a live situation, it was fine. I used it with a SCSI Zip drive but had back-up Zip discs for the obvious reason
The issue of external drives all depends on how much sample data you need for the gig.
If you just have a few short samples then you could get away with using floppies.
An internal hard disc would be preferable as it'll remove the need for transporting extra peripheral kit (hard disc, power supply, leads etc).
SCSI Zip and Jazz drives are cheap but less reliable than a proper non-removable hard disc (internal or external).

Thanks for getting back to me
Did you have long load times when changing from patch to patch with the k20005 sampler? This is my only remaining concern
thanks

Re: K2000 Sampling
The Kurzweil is super fast at changing patches once they're loaded in memory. Retrieving them from disk can take a bit of time, so it's important to have enough memory in order to load all programs at the beginning of the show so that they're immediately accessible.zantel wrote:Did you have long load times when changing from patch to patch with the k20005 sampler?
128MB should be enough.
