G'day,

Just joined today, and after browsing for awhile looks like some good stuff around.

I have just picked up a Ensoniq SQ2 cheap ( dead keys)., and I am after a schematic as a priority, and then a users manual, any hints at all.

I have a good knowledge of Electronics so I am not afraid of getting dirty...

Any help appreciated

thanks

To fix your faulty keys, you do not need the service manual. There are no indications on how to fix that problem. In fact, I have not yet seen a service manual who does outline the routine.

Unfortunately, I do not own either manual. If you do find the service manual, I'd really like a copy.

[cut & paste from another thread I answered] What you need to do is the clean it with with de naturalized alcohol and clean with a Q-Tip (if there is heavy dirt there). WARNING: Don't apply much alcohol or you'll damage the gold. And be sure to wipe the alcohol when done. Electronics don't like wet.

Prefered method: a white, Steadler pen-like eraser. Smooth and porous. Safe for the golden sensor. Rub smoothly until shiny. Repeat if necessary.

That should fix your problem

Tried the contact cleaner & cotton buds, it made no difference. Hooking the unit upto a MIDI interface, the dead keys show no output to the PC, but I am able to generate sunds via the Midi software (Anvil).

I think there may be something more than just dirty contacts. hence the request for any schematics.
