Mac G4 music set up.

I have a Mac G4, a delta 44 soundcard/breakout box and Cubase SE. I have tried to record and nothing happens. The sound card is fitted properly, Cubase is fully installed. I don't know what to do. I am clueless and worse still, I haven't got anyone to ask what to do. Can someone please help an idiot?
