Anyone know how to tune a Korg Lambda??

Post by donaldm » Thu Jul 12, 2007 4:18 pm

My Lambda is on the significantly sharp side. I need to turn the master tune pot all the way down to get it to 440. I opened it up last weekend hoping there was a handy tuning screw like there is on the Mono/Poly, but I could not find one. Is anyone familiar with the procedure to bring the pitch down on one of these beasties?

Use the flowwing schematics here (bottom of the page): http://www.carbon111.com/lambda.html

And use the following chart:

Or this frequency chart here: http://www.allchurchsound.com/ACS/pdf/PIANO.pdf

Good luck!

Yeah I have those, and the overall temprament of the keyboard is fine. According to the block diagram there is a master tuning that controls the divide down circuits. But I don't know enough abotu electronics to figure out where it is the tuning is set and how to do it. For my Mono/Poly I had a service manual that explained the process, but there seems to be no such service manual circulating for the Lambda.

Macschinegeist, can you work on getting an agent set up here in New York, because we desperately need a straight shooting repair-person. Dealing with music repair here is like dealing with the gestapo.

If I get a minute, I'll try to help you out on the tuning.

A guy in NY? That would be a great idea. I'm always on the look out for techs to join our ranks. There's even a page on our website about it. But finding competent, trustworthy techs willing to give it a shot is not the easiest things. I'm receiving tons of resumés: most of them are only in it for the money (BIG money) or they wouldn't be able to identify an PNP from a NPN even if their life depended on it.

Sadly, there's a lot of repairshops out there that are more interested in your wallet than to your instruments. And many of them are not even musicians so know as much about the synth than me about hamsters.
