Pal is giving me his CZ1000. Refuses to save patches. Thoughts?

Maybe it just needs a new internal battery.

That was my thought, and i'll try that first. I'm picking it up tomorrow.

It doesn't have an interanl battery does it? It just a full-key CZ-101 which I KNOW doesn't have an internal battery. Try just putting actual batteries in it. With my 101 it was fine if I kept it plugged in except when in transport. I think it has a cap. that will save it's power for a bit.

that's it exactly. i have a cz1000 and it won't save unless you load it up with 6 d cells. you'll still have all the presets, but they really suck.

Havent looked yet. Here's the issue:

Everytime i power it on, the screen is garbled. To get it to work, i have to re-initilize every time i turn it on.

I fixed it. All it required of a quick resolder on the Memory Protect on/off switch.

Make sure you insert some batteries while you are running it on an adaptor. The memory is backed up on batteries. According to the manual, baterries should last about 12 months if used just for backing up the memory.

I also suggest you press the P Button before you start saving your own patches. This clears any bugs and brings back 16 more presets into the internal memory. BTW the P Button is near the battery compartment. You have to use a pen to press it.

Huh...that's weird. It's doing it again, so i fixed nothing.

However, if i have it on for awhile, save my patch, turn the synth off, and turn it back on, all is well. If i leave it off for awhile, then when i power up i need to re-initalize again.

Thoughts?

I've got the service manual in our library. I'd have to look that up when time will permit.

If it's not related to the power detection, maybe it's the RAM itself. Or a voltage fluctuation somewhere.

Thanks man, i appreciate it.

I picked up a CZ-1 in a similiar condition a while back. I had to replace the internal battery, (which is not fun to get to), but my problem now is that I have to re-initialize the thing everytime I turn it on if I want to read a non scrambled LCD screen.
