Can't get a sound out of my Korg Trident Mk II
Hello. I got a Korg Trident Mk II third-hand, and I cannot get a sound out of it. When I turn it on, the lights go on, and when I plug the headphones in, I hear the crackling sound indicating that the phones work. Since I do not know anything about synthesizers, where do I start?

It could be really simple fix or a completely mind-numbling nightmare, let me assure you.
I'm totally beat right now. But I come back to you tomorrow... when I've had at least 3-4 hours of sleep.
But if you don't know anything synthesizers & electronics, please don't venture in there and improvise yourself as a technician. Chances are you'll do more damages than good. Please see a professional.

PART II: The Technical Advices
- The Trident can be either slightly defective, either heavily damaged. The light show and the crackles in the headphones don't indicate much. Why? The LEDs are taking their source from the power supply and require very little power to light up. So the power supply can be almost dead and the LEDs will light up anyway. And the headphone noise can only be electrical hum.
That being said, let's quickly go into the crux of the problem.
If you go to a tech, tell him to check the following:
-PSU: the complete test, including calibration. And let's not forget the transformer.
-The overall tests, including the electrolytics caps throughout the synth. Very likely they all dead.
- Obviously check the SSM chips, ICs and transistors.
- Finally, the output module.
WARNING: you're in for at very least $125-150 in repairs.
If you ever need my professional services, you know where to reach. On our website (see the banner below), I am Steph. J ("The Boss"). Plenty of references availble if you need them.
