Scratchy volume knobs

Post by Five » Thu Aug 30, 2007 3:45 am

A few of my synths have this problem and some are so bad that the volume cuts in and out while turning. What is the proper way to clean/fix this to have it sounding clear again?

start out simply by removing the caps and spraying the pots with contact cleaner. stuff works miracles.

I'm just going to butt in here to say that replacing the capacitors isn't going to do anything to help with the scratchy potentiometers. I would spray them down with electromechanical contact cleaner as suggested above, and if that doesn't fix things just replace the pot entirely.
