HELP!! Finding particular sounds related to bands/covers

Post by SR9 » Sat Sep 22, 2007 4:47 pm

Is there anyone out there that knows how I can find out what boards and sounds are used by the many different rock and classic rock bands? I spend hours trying to get that perfect sound and I know I can't be the only one with this question. :?
Moderators administrator someone has to know of a site or sites where this information can be found?

I try to recreate the sounds of famous artists with my own synths.. the results are very close to the original sounds, even if i'm sure the synths I use are not at all the ones the original composers used.. I find it a very good exercise for being familiar with a new synth.. so first I always try to imitate some famous sound, and only when I know were to put the hands I do my own sounds ;)

In any case maybe if you are a bit more specific (names of the bands :D)someone may know your specific request.. ;)

Specific Bands to the request

Thank you Antonino. I have one in particular at the moment and that is Van Halen. Does anyone know what board(s) Eddy uses? I have tweaked my old proteus and get close but wonder what he uses.

one source say he used a Oberheim OB-Xa
"All we used was the explosion and the orchestra hit. The Fairlight was a $100,000 waste of space."

An Oberheim huh? Thanks Wiss. Which source? That is right along the lines of what we're asking here. THere is another forum I am a member of and someone asking the same question. Is there a blog(s) or website(s) that has a list of artists, the equipment and settings they use? Any help from any users or moderaters would be greatly appreciated.
