How do I set up 2 MMT-8's to run together at the same time?

I needed 16 tracks of MIDI, so I used a second MMT-8. I was wondering what is the correct way to take advantage of both together. So far I have both syncing together with the MIDI echo going from one to the other, but it seems that there's MIDI going out of the second one which is controlling a multitimbral keyboard (EPS) for testing, but I can't get MIDI signals from the first one. I must be doing it wrong. What should I do to make this work out? Is this actually possible? Orbital used three live so does anybody know what their technique was?

have you got the midi echo on on the 2nd one?

if not it won't re-transmit the mid messages received from the first
mostly enjoying adventures in sound :)
