If my Andromeda had a face, I'd punch it.

Anybody else have the "ghost" edit problem? Random parameters spontaneously changing? Mod wheel no longer working, now it glitches the LFO 1 rate in weird ways. This just started happening over the last few days. Will reloading the OS help?

I've read 2 tips in the A6 manual:

1) Reinitialize Global
parameters by turning unit
on while holding Soft
Button 4.

2) And for the Mod Wheel:
Reinitialize the unit (turn
on while holding down
soft button 4) with the mod
wheel in its full down
position.

You can also try to upgrade the OS if not at the latest version.

Hope that helps.

Thanks man!

I do have the latest OS in, let's see if that soft reset works.

Seems to have cured the ghost problems, but the mod wheel is still s**t. I can live with that as long as the ribbon and aftertouch don't go way of the mod wheel.

Still getting some ghost c**p. This sucks. This thing sounds WAY to good to have to deal with this c**p.

I reloaded the OS... no help. Why is this suddenly happening?

Does Alesis repair Andromedas?

I'll try to find the time to look at the schematics in the next few days (I'm trying to finish the repairs of a few instruments for a few VSErs).

maybe a defective pot??

It's a defect in all the pots on the left side of the synth. It unfortunately has to go to TSI to get repaired. Thankfully it's in NJ. UN-thankfully they told me that they're already two weeks behind in repairs. There's apparently firmware glitches in Andromedas.

I sure will. I know you're interested in getting one Mini, and I have to say... for all the extraordinarily frustrating problems and bugs... it's completely worth it. It really is a wonderful sounding analog. There is so much depth to the synth and the sound. It's regal.

Mine's from 2002, so I'm not sure if there were known glitches in that production era. The guy at TSI seemed like he was aware of this kind of problems in the Andromeda. I'll see if I could get any insider info off of them when I take it there.
