Trimpots inside my MG-1?

Post by Tyler2000 » Mon Dec 24, 2007 12:37 am

So. I opened up my MG-1 to clean out the gunk and do a few mods (enhanced trig, vcf in, lfo speed) and I noticed that this sucker is FULL of little trim pots. Does anybody else know if these are worth tweaking. I haven't messed with them because I kind of feel like moog had them tweaked just right and I might mess it and not be able to figure out how to get it back.

Anybody know?
so what do I put down here now?

analog synths use trim pots to calibrate vco/vcf/vca/eg settings. if you want an out of tune paperweight, turning those arbitrarily will definitely work.

the ones on the psu set output voltages. same deal.

however, if you have a voltmeter and know how to calibrate/tune things, then by all means check your voltages and dive in!

I agree with Rjd2: if you don't have business there, don't venture there. I frequently get synths f**ed up by owners who messed with the trimpots.

Anyway, find your answers here: http://www.synthmania.com/Synthesizers/ ... Manual.rar

Thanks! It's all sealed back up and I didn't touch one of them. I did however clean out the gunk and add mods for vcf-in and lfo speed. Thanks for the advice.

Although, one of the trimmers sets the PW of the square wave. If you can replace the trimmer with a pot (and find somewhere to put it on that crammed front panel) you can adjust the width of the square wave!

Seriously? And this is safe? Why aren't more people modding this little beast. It's a gold mine!
