Snap, crackle and pop in the outputs.

I am having a noise issue with my CS-40M. It sounds like it's being played on a record player. The overall sound is perfect, but I get pops and crackles here and there, and it's on every output, so I'm guessing it's either a loose connection or dust.

My plan for later is to pop it open and blow every spec of dust out of it with compressed air. Anybody have any other suggestions as to what this is?

I doubt that the air will do any good.

The pop-corn you're hearing is most likely dead electrolytic capacitors.

It's not as bad as it sounds. Bring it to your local tech and he should replace them in a jiff.
