just got korg monopoly and kenton pro solo connected and using ableton live. ( and no master keyboard.)
i am having problem with arpeggiator function. the kenton manual says i can use the monopoly arpeggiator but it doesn't say how to set it in kenton.
the midi is working but can't figure out the arpeggiator part.

(it's a bit difficult to explain. it arpeggiates but will not change the key unless i actually play on korg. if i draw midi in ableton, it would still play the same key, someting like that)

any one tell me basic how-to? thanks!!

interesting... my Mono/Poly is hooked up to my Pro-2000 right now, i'll take a look tonight.

My copy of the manual states that the "ARPEGGIO [in the Mono/Poly] CAN ALSO BE CONTROLLED". This is kind of vague. The manual doesn't really say you can get the Mono/Poly to arpeggiate certain notes. It's probably just making the point that you can sync the arpeggiator to MIDI by converting the incoming MIDI clock to an analog 'clock' signal. You can control the arpeggiator rate with this setup, and I think that is as far as it goes, but I may be wrong.

You'll be able to trigger the arpeggiator with Live meaning it'll clock to the tempo of your Live project/session. It'll play in time

However you cannot program arpeggiations over chords using MIDI (what it should be playing) as the Mono/Poly's CV system can only handle one voltage for pitch at a time - in this case one note and one gate at a time as it uses two connections.

This is the main limitation of control voltages - in order to get CV controlled polyphony you'd need one gate and CV input for each note.

This is true!

On a more serious note nonon, think of the Mono/Poly as a very flexible mono synth and with a rather limited poly mode. A Mono/Poly if you will, as opposed to a Mono/Poly.

However there is a solution - if Live has a built-in MIDI arpeggiator you could use that to generate suitable arpeggations. Failing that I'm sure free there's a VST out there somewhere that'll handle that sort of thing.

The bonus of this is that you won't even need to connect the arp trigger from your Kenton for this to work as the actual arpeggiation pattern has already been handled by the MIDI.

I discovered yesterday that I can use my Nord G2 to sync the Mono/Poly arpeggiator rate, by simply plugging a G2 'clock' signal to an audio output, and then patching it into the M/P trig in. The unprocessed clicks are strong enough to trigger the arp. Plus, the clock signal doesn't have to be static, you can introduce rests, rhythmic variations, randomness, etc, by programming the G2 accordingly. Then, setting the M/P to poly mode and fiddling with the the osc levels is big fun.

It always makes me slightly happy when I come across something a little offbeat like that.
