Sequencing Access Virus Classic with Monomachine?

I dove in and purchased a Virus Classic which will arrive on Thursday. As I have no keyboard skills to speak of and like to sequence all of my equipment, I was wondering if anyone out there is using a hardware sequencer to drive their Virus. My searching has turned up mostly Virus users who use Cubase, Ableton or other software. (I hate software.) Will the Monomachine with its 6 extra midi channels be sufficient for the task? I also have a spare Mobius. Am I understanding correctly that the Mobius will only be useful if I'm not using the Virus in Multimode? What are the sonic ramifications of this? (I'm still reading up on the various functions of the Virus and I'm not that familiar with the concept of multimode yet; the manual is over 300 pages!)
