Jp-8080 and MIDI Quest XL 10

I've just purchased a JP-8080 second hand and wanted to program the synth from my Mac. I read in a forum that this program has caused problems with Roland gear where it has erased the EPROM. Have you guys had this problem or was it just someone doing something wrong?
