Hi Folks
Just picked up a Roland D10 cheap, however the middle F key does not sound. Don't know anything about synth repair.
How can this be repaired?
Is it a DIY job or will I need professional help?
Who is good in the UK preferably in the Midlands area?
Thank for any help or advice.

You could try doing it yourself, but it might be hard since you're just starting out.
It sounds like it could just need the key contact cleaned. This is a simple task for most people dealing with vintage synths, but some of us (like me) are too afraid to give it a try and hope for the best.
It will probably save you quite a bit of money to do it yourself, but read into contact cleaning. Some pro places will charge $45 and up hourly, including the time it takes to open it all up. You should find yourself a copy of the D-10 service manual too. It can probably be found online in PDF format. I opened up my D-50 not long ago and everything is screwed in like a tank. The D-10 probably has less inside, but if you want to unscrew things, it's a must to have the service notes for the unit so you know where and how to take it apart and back again. Another note is to not touch the contacts with your bare finger. Use powder-less gloves if you must touch the contacts. (Thanks for your videos, Mini

) The contacts must be clean and anything on them can cause the note to not play or fizzle out.
Hope that helps!
