Tech in Metro Detroit?
Anyone know a good synth tech in the Metro Detroit area? I'm in Macomb County and need to repair an Oberheim OB-8.

I don't know if they work on vintage synths but back in 02 my VFX-SD needed repair and this place did a great job, it might be worth a call.
They are located in Warren Michigan.
I will pm you their phone number.

Sorry to hear they're disconnected, the owner worked on my Ensoniq and they were quite honest.
Don't know of any place around here where you could check out the Prophet 98. When it first came out I called the local Guitar Center and all they could say was it was a great idea and they were going to check it out.
I don't know if they're still in business but try Al Nalli's in Ann Arbor. I know that's a bit of a drive for you but they're all I can think of.
You might try emailing Dave Smith and see if they can refer you to a local dealer.

Funny story I asked at the guitar center in Roseville about the Prophet'08 and
the keyboard salesman knew nothing of it.
He went on to spout off about someone he knew that had an old Prophet 5 that had to load presets from cassette and how lame that seemed.
I just shook my head and could not believe that such a moron roams the earth!

As far as the Prophet 08 goes, check out some of Keyboardwizards youtube vid's, he has some linked right here in the Listening Lounge.
As far as GC goes, I went there today to get some cable organizers and swore I'd never go back. In fairness to the sales people, I don't think they make much money and work long hours. I think it's mostly to buy equipment at a discount.
From now on I'll save gas money and go through Sweetwater.
