CZ-101 presets

Post by immigrantboy » Fri May 09, 2008 2:29 am

Well, the pitchbend/vibrato glitch seems to have disappeared on its own, despite the fact that the P-Button doesn't seem to work.

However, my CZ-101 switches between Internal Memory and Presets banks when it gets ever so slightly jolted. Does this ever happen with 101's or other plastic synths of this variety?

My guess is that the blankets melted or the contacts became loose. Perhaps I'll try opening it up and adjusting them.

Also, as I said, the P-button does nothing. I'm kind of curious what the factory presets sound like, but its not that big of a deal (they're probably cheesy anyway).

Since you can't write over the presets, they're nice to have in there. "fairy tale" and "synth bass" are quite usable and organ is the chessiest thing ever. Kind of in a good way.

Both the CZ-101s I've had, came with some glitching from being deprived of power for too long. Just try initializing all your settings. I don't know what to tell you about switching thing. Push comes to shove you could allways take the button out and put in a new one.
so what do I put down here now?

'Synth Bass' is cool. Strings are cool, as well as the EP sounds.

That is such a great sounding little board.
Too futurist to live.

Are you using the correct power supply?

I ask because I wasn't at first, with my CZ-1000.

The CZ's take a Casio AD-5 type power supply, which looks very similar and is almost the same size as the common all-purpose power adapters that you get at Radio Shack or wherever. The CZ's will work off of a standard power supply, but since the plug is ever-so-slightly the wrong size, you'll get weird intermittent glitches, power cutting out, et cetera, if you bump the synth even a little bit.

I was using an all purpose adapter, but it also does it when I use only batteries. Still haven't gotten around to opening it and checking the button. Its on my to do list...
