Electribe L/mono Out socket replacement?

Post by pricklyrobot » Mon May 19, 2008 2:56 pm

A friend just gave me a free ER-1 (mk I), after a bit of repair (i.e. soldering the power socket securely back onto the board to stop the thing constantly shutting off) it works fine.

Except the L/mono Out socket seems to be faulty. I checked it out when I had the thing open and it seems to be securely attached to the board. I can get sound out of it if I push down hard on the cable that's inserted into it. So I'm thinking there's something loose or broken inside the socket.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement part? Or even what the technical name for this part is (Audio Out socket, jack?), so I know what to search for?

The socket would be the same as the EM-1. In the EM-1 service manual, it lists the part as an output socket, part no. LGR4609-7000.

You could ring Korg support for how to get one off them, or go to KorgParts.com here and contact them:

Thanks Graham.

I tried doing a Google search on the part number, but that only brought up Japanese language sites. So I've e-mailed korgparts.com to see if they can help.

P.S. I came across your CZ battery back-up info on another forum: http://www.jz-server.de/forum2/e107_plu ... ic.php?596 Wired it up to my CZ-1000 the other day (except I left out the diode because I am using NiMH rechargeable AA's), seems to be working nicely so far.

Hope you can get the socket ok.

Glad the CZ battery mod worked well!!

Be aware, though, that NiMH batteries don't hold their charge as well as alkaline non-rechargeables. They actually run down over a couple of months just sitting around.

Cheers, Graham

Yeah, I just hate buying non-rechargeable batteries. I reckon I'll keep an extra set of four around, and routinely swap in a freshly charged set every two months or so.

Thanks,
Joshua

Not for long. I'm moving (back) to Austin, Tex-a*s in August. I can't handle New England's Puritanical weather (we are wicked sinners who deserve only cold aire and grey skies) any longer.

Sure! It's in the FILES section of the Yahoo Electribe group:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/electribe/

You'll need to join up as a member there to access the files section, though.

Also, the EMX service manual is here:

http://electribe-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16

If you ever find the ES-1 service manual, let me know!

Cheers, Graham

If you cannot find a suitable replacement jack (either the official part or a substitute), you could always do something gross and find a cable with a 1/4" female end and solder it directly to the board :D.
