MS2000 Detune.

Post by SteveW » Mon May 26, 2008 1:29 pm

Hi guys, Ive been on here a little while and found some nice hints and tips on this page http://www.mindspring.com/~cwfields/MS2000%20Tips.htm
Ive been playing with the EQ settings and enjoying that, but they also mention detuning the ossilators for good bass sounds.
Have any of you done this on the Korg, any tips would be welcome?

Any ideas?

Hey,

I'm not sure I understand the question. Detuning oscillators is a very common practice to thicken up the voice. It's not limited to the MS2K.

When using more than one oscillator in a voice, you simply put one or both oscillators slightly out of tune with each other. This is like the difference in hearing a single violin vs. a complete multiple piece violin section. You can't have all the violins tuned exactly the same, no matter how much you try. This makes the sound very full.

Analog: Mono/Poly, Prophet '08, Juno 106
Digital: Kurzweil SP88, Yamaha DX11, Kawai K4, MS2K, AN1x
Modules: Triton (loaded), Motif ES, MS2KR, E-Mu Proteus 2K, TR626 DM, Roland U220
New Addition: Fender Rhodes 73 Mark I
So much gear... So little time!!!
