Monomachine blowing fuses:

A friend of mine opened up his MnM to peak around at an issue with an output. After closing it back up, it now blows a fuse every time it's powered on.

Now it lives with me, and I'd like to see if anyone has any insight before I:
  • a) take it to a local tech and forfeit $25 for an estimate and potentially no fix, or
    b) send it to the Elektron guy in the USA to the tune of ~$300 for diagnosis/repair.
We've not found anything regarding which fuse to put in the MnM, so dude got some at Radio Shack and I've been blowing those up one by one.

I saw a place where a (missing) screw mounts the PCB to a small internal ledge on the chassis, above the far right (looking down into the open MnM) outputs. I thought that could be a chassis ground, so I tossed a new screw in that and just ended up blowing another fuse when I turned it on again.

halp! :?

Standard drill, take a meter out and start probing for shorts to ground or chassis starting at the power inputs on back... Something must be touching, I would be surprised if a component blew

Test the diodes in the PS.

I have a Prophet 2002 and it would blow a fuse immediately each time I turned it on when I first got it. The problem was a diode.

So you can't reliably test a diode in-circuit, but if it is worth a shot before removing them to test.

If you have a meter, then it will only take you a moment to check that they are fine. It sounds like it is probably something else though since it only happened after it was opened.
