CV to midi on a SH-2

Post by crumar » Sun Sep 28, 2008 6:16 pm

Im about to get me a SH-2 and I havent got any experience with CV.

I know it´s possible to control the synth from a sequencer/keyboard with a midi to cv interface like the Pro solo.

But.. Let´s say I also want to use the SH-2 keyboard to record midi into a sequencer. What do i need?

Thanks!

There are many options (MIDI to C/V converters) to controll the SH-2 via MIDI, but I do not think there are any C/V to MIDI converters. Perhaps there is a sequncer with C/V ins and MIDI where you could input notes from the SH-2 nd then be translated to MIDI. I'm not sure if such thing exists.

The Kenton boxes seem to be very popular means of controlling C/V synths via MIDI, but there are also Roland MPU-101, Vetafire (my 1st MIDI to C/V box) and some modern analogs with MIDI & C/V control.

Congrats on the SH-2. Mine has served me well for over 16 years.

I usually record via a midi keyboard into cubase and then run that out via a Kenton. One thing and I think it was the SH2 (28 yrs together now) is that it needs I think 10-15 volt pull up on the gate.

Analogue Systems make the RS300 CV to MIDI convertor as part of their modular system. Not cheap though.
