Hey guys'n'gals...I've a friend who has a ROLAND JX-305 that he need a memory card(s) for...I do know they take SMARTMEDIA 5v cards which are now outta production from what I gather, but was wondering for anyone who knows...Some people have told me only ROLAND ones will work and others have told me that any SMARTMEDIA 5v cards will work...

Any thoughts?...Cheers, DOM!

The JX-305 uses either SmartMedia S2m-5 (2Mb) + S4m-5 (4Mb). Any cards other than Roland's will work.

Not sure I'm following... You mean copy the smartcard to another storage device? Like to CD-R and then back again to the smartcard? (that way preventing to have to buy a lot of smartcards). If so, sure you can do it. You just need a smartcard reader attached to a computer and it's like any other media. Same with other smartcard-like cards. You need a "universal reader-writer" and the appropriate software (usually supplied with the reader-writer).

That gizmo is available in every electronic shops, camero shops, etc.
