I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this item? I purchased one about a month ago and have had a weird issue with it.
Everything works nicely when I have the device hooked up and playing notes on my SH-101 (via MIDI from my computer); however, as soon as I hook it up to the line-in on my computer or an in on my mixer no notes transmit. When it is unplugged from either I have sound again. I tested the SH-101's ability to receive CV (thanks for the help on this one, guys) from my TB-303 and sync the external clock using the TB-303's gate with no problem.
I have no idea what the deal is. I'd hate to find out I have a bad unit since I really need this for recording.

Re: dinsync.com MIDI -> CV converter
I tried swapping some cables out and around to no avail. All the other MIDI -> CV converters look pricey so I'm trying my best to get this one to work.

Please explain or draw a diagram of how you have everything hooked up via audio, MIDI, CV & Gate. We might be able to help you once we know exactly what and where you ahve things plugged in at. From your original post, it sounds like you may be trying to record CV or Gate into your computer. I just want to doule check my assumption.
Re: dinsync.com MIDI -> CV converter
Here is how I have my setup:

and here is the converter I bought (MDCV-1): http://ca.geocities.com/[email protected]/mdcv1.gif
When I have headphones connected (instead of the line-out from the SH-101 pictured) I am able to hear the notes I am playing from my USB MIDI keyboard (meaning it does work. I can even send notes from my DAW's piano roll to the SH-101); however, when I plug the lead from the SH-101 back to the line-in of my soundcard or my mixer no sound comes out of the SH-101 (from both the phone out and line output), and I am guessing there is some hangup with the MIDI -> CV converter.
I wonder if I am creating some kind of loop that is giving me these issues, because I don't have this problem when the TB-303 is driving the SH-101 (meaning I was able to hear sound coming out of the SH-101 into my computer's sound card).
Thanks again, and please let me know if I need to be clearer.

It looks like you have everything hooked up correctly. I do not use DAWs, but I would guess the problem would be in your DAW software. I would try checking the MIDI & Audio Input & Output settings. Other than that, I don't know what else to say.
Best of luck!
