What are some the better synths for pad sounds?

I've had good luck with my Juno-106 and JP-8080. What I do for pads is just take the frequency slider pretty low, make the resonance a bit higher than that, and finally play with the envelope slider to dull it out some.

Reverb and delay effects can help too.

The JD-800 is my "go to" synth for pads. Just about any synth will make great pads, it just takes a little bit of programming. And as Darren suggested, reverb & delay.

Check out this thread for great pad examples from our fellow VSErs.

If I should only pick one, it's going to be the uWaveXT. It cover wavetable, analog/rompler style pad, it can make a big layer in the performance, just my pick for an all around pad machine.
