I did not see anything in the Source manual regarding the ability to sync its sequencer to an external device. However, I did see one photo online when I seached "moog source" on Yahoo Images that showed a 5 pin DIN jack that was labled "sync in." This same jack is labled "cassette interface" in all other photos. I'm not sure if the Source in that photo is a later version from Moog or if it had been modified. If that was indeed a DIN sync jack, then all you would need is a MIDI to DIN sync converter just as you would need for early Roland drum machines.

If your Source does not have this sync in jack, I do not see a way to sync its sequencer with an external device. However, you can purchase a MIDI to CV/Gate box and play the Source as a slave sound source via MIDI.

Best of luck.

I downloaded the manuals for both the Source and the Tr626

do you think it can be done??

The source

Trigger in

- the source's contour generators will be triggered whenever an S-trig (shorting connection ) appears at the input portion of te Trig Jack

it may be generated by another synth or a simple mechanical switch closure.
such a closure must be opened and reclosed to generate any successive triggers.

Trigger in is connected to the ring of a stereo jack ( trigger out on the tip )

TR 626

trigger out

when a rim shot sound written into a pattern hrough trigger outis generated , the trigger messages (+5v approx 18ms ) are output through trigger out jack

cheers

The Source's Trigger In is a Switch Trigger also known as Gate on other instruments. Like you read from the manual, the trigger in will initate the contour generator for whatever current key has been played. So if you progammed a rim shot rhythm on the 626 and plugged the 626's Trigger Out to the Source's Trigger In, you might be able to pull of some sort of arpeggiation of whatever key has been depressed.

i connected a mono cable to the source trig in/out from the tr626 and it made the source sound a continuous tone

this was without a rythym pattern playing on the tr626

Well, I'm out of ideas. Your best bet would be to get a MIDI to CV/Gate converter to control the Source from your other MIDI gear.

Best of luck!

I've not tried this with DIN-SYNC but...yes, when you plug an audio cable into the trigger-in the synth will drone. Once you send it signal it will trigger the envelopes. That is how I can get the auto-repeat to sync with Reason.

It's the imfamous Moog S-trigger. You need a converter for that.
Switches, knobs, buttons, LEDs, LCD screens, monitors, keys, mice, jacks, sockets. Now two joysticks!
