Jomox xbase 09 issue.

Post by Hypercomplex » Sun Nov 30, 2008 2:14 am

So i just bought an XBase 09, when i plugged my headphones into the mix out jack all i got was sound through the left ear at very low volume. i took it to a friends house and we tried running it through his set up. we tried to hook it up every which way through his mixer and delta 1010 interface. it would only register on the left, though we were able to get sound from left to right but we could only record to the left side. he had a spliced cable that we plugged in that should have split it to left and right but it was a balanced output and i guess i need an unbalanced output. this is my first piece of hardware so maybe im missing something? hopefully the right channel isn't just fried. hopefully i can get some insight to this issue.

it's a mono output. mix just means it's all of the instruments.

so when im recording i can only record through the left? how can i even it out so that it plays correctly? reguardless of how im routing it, the left will only register, shouldn't it register equally if its mono output?

#-o use a normal mono instrument cable and record it to a single mono channel. leave that channel's panning centered if you want it equally in both left & right. DON'T use a stereo cable or a stereo to mono cable or headphones.

you also need to keep the master volume up all the way on jomox gear, otherwise it does strange things...

mine definitely does strange things, but there's nothing weird about the volume...

That's a quirk, and switchable in the interface. Build quality on my SE is perfect, and OS is rock solid (2.09). Upgrade if you don't have that version - I am completely satisfied with the experience and find no faults or bugs.

I'm on 2.09 already.

How is it switchable?

Wasn't to difficult to find in the manual, I had to switch mine also. I'm running 2.09 and it's still full of odd bugs. It arrived from the factory that way, so I'm not really keen on Jomox.

Not at all. The encoders used must cheap. Extremely wobbly.
