Micromoog trim pots

Post by Blackie1 » Fri Dec 26, 2008 4:49 am

Hey, what exactly do the trim pots do? I don't understand. And is it bad to turn them without knowing what you're really doing?

The trim pot are for tuning and calibrating the unit and if you just go in there and start turning them you will throw off the tuning big time.

Well that all depends. If you want a completely unplayable instrument, then sure. :) Find the service manual online. They're around.
I like vintage synths....

Synths should come with a warning label on the underside like this:

ACHTUNG!
--------

Well I was turning them, trying to fix this problem that I've had with the thing for a while, and it didn't really change anything. I used a tuner, and it was in tune. Are you saying it may mess up the fine tune knob somehow?

The fine tune knob and the trim pots work together to get your micromoog performing at it's best. Those trim pots adjust a lot more than just the overall tuning of the instrument (such as making sure a note played 2 octaves up is still in tune). Seriously get that service manual and go through the whole procedure- your micromoog will thank you for it. :D
