ESQ-1 problem

Post by Blackie1 » Tue Dec 30, 2008 4:39 pm

Can someone tell me what it means when an ESQ-1 says this on the screen?: 'Battery voltage is low. Save data and consult owner's manual.'

Would this be a fixable problem?

There is a battery on the motherboard that backs up memory when the ESQ is turned off. That battery must be replaced every so often. You need to backup your data (patches, sequences) before swapping the battery as the data will be lost otherwise.

More info here.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Great, thanks for the info.

I may just get an ESQ-1 for $6 to fix.

You can get a new battery here-- http://www.synthpedia.com/4.html
They give you a battery holder and soldering instructions as well.
"Sure that's fine in practice, but what about in theory?"

Those ones are a little more expensive...is it really worth it?

I think the blurb on their website says it all. Probably worth it in the end.
