Shipping gear.

Post by Ohm's Law » Tue Feb 17, 2009 12:03 pm

Hi,

Seen a few posts about shipping gear.

I'm having a hard time finding boxes big enough for say for an Emulator II or III.

Any ideas where to find one?

Thanks,

Tim.

Visit your local music store, supermarket or walmart and see if they throw out any large boxes, or
what i do, if things don't fit, is i modify the box and make it bigger. One rule when sending large
keyboards, is to double box them, which gives added protection when in transit.

Your local Costco is usually good for boxes too. Most decent sized towns also have shipping and packing supply stores that buy up overstock and end-of-run cartons and boxes that may be useful.

Faling that, try an online distributor like Uline, who sell pretty much every size of box (though you may have minimum lot quantities to buy).

For large keyboards, I usually engineer a box from a larger box. Check with furniture or appliance stores. Grab a large box and cut it down to the size you need. Remember to make the box at least 6 inches larger than the item you're shipping for 3" of void fill on all sides.

Not for these so much, but bicycle boxes from bike stores usually do the trick. The shipping place nearby has boxed for shipping wardrobes and such. FedEx Kinkos usually has them as well.
