Thanks solder, I do have to agree tho that there is something cool about using a cv board to control a cv synth.

I use ableton live, but honestly the problem I have is the when I sequence a synth by the time I've sent midi out of live, then through a converter, then recording back into Live there is always latency and i can't figure out how to get around it. i know there is some way to adjust the midi latency but it never seems to work right. I probably should figure that out though... I'm kind of waiting for live 8 to come out.

It's probably not the midi latency, but the recording latency. Probably whatever length your ASIO buffer is set to.
Use a negative latency setting which is near to the ASIO buffer length, on the midi tracks for controlling any external gear that gets recorded straight back into Live as audio. If there is still jitter, it just might be coming from the Midi out interface after all, and this is always a pain in the a*s to troubleshoot.
The purists will tell you CV is faster, and clocks are better, for timing an onboard sequencer, but then you're left with fixed length notes, and no option for CC's that translate to volume or filter CV's for expression, etc. ie. all tweaks are manual.
