Korg Ds-8 Glitch Mode

Post by jggvansickle » Sun Apr 19, 2009 3:14 am

Bought a Korg Ds-8
Downloaded MIDIOX
Factory Patches sys file
Loaded through my computer and got junk all but 3
sounds.
Online heard It is in glitch mode by midi overload.

Can I get it out of this , otherwise its a piece of junk.

Thanks
Gary

First, this simply means the battery is fried. You need a new back up bat and it is soldiered in place.

Work around:
1. While powering the unit up hold down the up and down buttons (this resets it)
2. Download the sysex file here: http://synthzone.com/midi/korg/ds8/ (the file is the last one called stock.zip)
3. Use a midi file transfer program (I use a mac so this one is for mac OS) https://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/
4. Press the Function button on the DS followed by #8 on the keypad scroll the _ over to EXCLUSIVE and use the VALUE slider to turn this ON
5. Press #4 and turn the internal memory protect off _ over to INT and use the VALUE slider to turn this OFF
6. Use the MIDI program on your computer and send the SYSEX file via MIDI to the keyboard

Return to the home screen and the factory settings are all there, as soon as you power down it is gone!
It is so easy to do once you are set up it is easy to reload if you don't want to replace the battery (I opened the unit it is a HUGE PAIN)

Peace!
