Hi ...
I just got a used MP-7 I wanted to use for a sound module. When I hook it up through various software ... Cubase 5 or Chainer ... and send it midi messages it either freezes or 'howls.'
When I play it on the unit or run it's internal sequencer everything seems to be running fine.
I have it connected s/pdif into a RME Multiface II for audio and also using the RME's midi in and out ports connected to the MP-7 in and A out (and, yes, the ins to outs and vice versa).
I have the manual and can't find anything in it about using the unit as a sound module. I looked for any information on syncing it, but couldn't find any in the Table of Contents or index.
I also have installed and set up the E-Loader with the USB connection and updated the OS to 2.0. That all works fine ... can upload and down load patches, patterns and songs.
BTW ... I've also applied to join the yahoo user's group and am waiting for 'approval.'
In the meantime ... anyone here used this controlled by computer sequencer or other hardware sequencer as a sound module? Any ideas what may be wrong?
Thanks
prado

Disconnect the S/Pdif and check if it work via the analogue outputs.

Re: E-Mu Command Station Sync?
Are you trying to send it midi via USB? I'm pretty sure you can't do that, the USB port is just for updating the software. Sync it with the midi ports.

Re: E-Mu Command Station Sync?
Thanks for the help guys ...
No, I was just using the USB for E-Loader. Not a bad little app. It doesn't do much ... basically just uploads and downloads 'songs' and 'patterns,' but it does that well.
I joined the Yahoo http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xl7 and with my approval notice they sent me a 'FAQ's' sheet that partially addressed my issue(s).
It seems there is a midi 'Rechannel' setting that has to be turned off for the unit to work as a sound module.
Got that working!
Now I'm just needing to figure out the MMC hookup so my software sequencer will trigger the MP-7 sequencer ... but that's 'back burner.'
Thanks again.
