MPC2000XL as Ableton controller?

Post by bizdavis » Fri May 08, 2009 3:23 pm

Anybody have any experience using an MPC2000XL (or other MPC) to controll Ableton in a live set-up?

I've been trying to sell mine for an APC40 or other controller but if it can be worked to control ableton maybe I should keep it.

Any thoughts? :?:

i used to use this set up about 2.5 years ago. always wishing something like the apc40 existed. i had eight channels/tracks going out of live into a mixer, and used my mpc for triggering clips and scenes. worked out great. you wont be able to control the software parameters like the apc will be able to. but if youre just wanting to trigger stuff you should be fine. you will be more limited in the amount of clips to be tiggered in a sense also. you will have 64 pads available, and just do a good job memorizing what they are.

with that being said, you probably can sell your 2000 and make enough money to purchase the apc. no doubt the apc will give you more control over live.
