Hello!
I am having stress!!!! My problem is I can't get the DX7s to accept a MIDI file (SYSEX) of a bank of 32 voices (which the hopeless manual says it can (but does not tell you how to do it!)). After an hour of colourfull langauge I finally worked out how to receive a single voice SYSEX file (manual says NOTHING about handling actual MIDI transmissions) but I can't receive bulk data, how do I do it???

if you send MK1 banks to a mk2 i believe it ends up in pos 32-64 so check the higher end bank firstly.
I take it all is set up ok on the sending device?
Memory protect off? (obvious so I'd assume so)
That is if a DX7 *S* has those extra spaces.. can't remember right now

Yes I learned it pays to have memory protect off!!!
The main issue seems to be a message appears saying "midi buffer full" but nothing is uploaded, this does not happen with single DX7 patches sent by midi to the DX7s, so to my small mind that eliminates the possibility of the patch/sysex bank being incompatible...
I have the send/receive channels set to 1 also got the "omni" on, rather than me stabbing blindly in the dark what settings for midi do you know work when receiving bulk transmissions??
Being new to the DX7s this is all a bit confusing, still its a darn site easier than trying to work out the EG relationships!!

I have fixed it!!! Some people have suggested getting an old PC as they claim modern PCs transmit too quickly...however the problem is not the DX7s its a combination of other things. I found if I connected a MIDI IN AND MIDI OUT cable connections it not only transmitted an entire bank it also RECEIVED one, the software I ended up using was Sound Quest XL which has an on board DX7/II/S emulator so using that in its "studio" mode meant I could send and receive anything, what joy!!!
