Soundtower Editor for Microwave 1

Post by chamomileshark » Sun May 31, 2009 10:40 pm

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to use the MW1 editor from Soundtower. I d/l the demo and saw that it said something about full support when you purchase. I made my purchase. The help section is useless re-telling the features I can see on the screen, I had assumed there would be a full manual.

Several e-mails to Soundtower and a month later I've had no reply. I've told them I will dispute the charge, still no reply.

I'm new to sysex etc. I thought I simply fired up the editor, connect my PC via MIDI to the MW1 and a way I go. I've managed to play the microwave from the virtual keyboard. I've also managed to wipe all of the sounds out of the memory so it looks as if some communication is going on. I had assumed that changing the parameters in the editor would change the sounds, I see the midi indicator coming on but nothing happens.

Really I need a basic manual on this and I've got the feeling I'm not going to be able to guess my way through this. I've asked on the Waldorf list but no one can help there.

I bought the micro q editor and had great communication. I noticed that the email address they give when you click on the link was missing a letter or spelt backwards, but it looks as though they fixed it. Can't remember what it was. Regardless, use this one - anna[at]soundtower[dot]com and you should get a reply.

Do you have both the midi in and out connected?

Thanks guesswho. Others have said the same and then others again have found them to be really bad. I've tried the e-mail address and we'll see what happens.

Attitude, yes, as I say it's recieving midi, the virtual keyboard is playing notes and I've accidently wiped all the sounds by messing about with the editor so they are clearly in communication with each other.

As an aside does anyone know why the forum keeps appearing in mid 90s plain retro style half the time?

To be clear: you have the midi in AND the midi out connected between the PC and the microwave? Just because it is receiving midi does not mean both are communicating
