I figured this day would come eventually.
I have an MKS-80 and every eighth note I play sounds weird - kind of like the cross mod is turned up just for that note. Because of this I figure one of the voice chips is going out on oscillator 2 and needs to be replaced.
Can some one tell me if I'm right about this? And if so, is it a fairly easy repair? I think I have a Rev 2, so an IR3R03 chip is what I'm looking for.
Any knowledge/advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: MKS-80 voice chip going out?
It may just need a calibration. IIRC there are trimpots on the voice boards for calibrating things like cross mod, so grab a service manual off the 'net and give it a try.
You'll need a voltmeter and an oscilloscope to do the calibration.
If you really have a rev 2 (and not a rev *5*), it actually uses the CEM3340 VCO. But even the rev 5 I believe uses CEM VCAs for the cross-mod control.

Two VCO: thanks to the push rods, one can choose several forms of waves at the same time!

Re: MKS-80 voice chip going out?
Thanks for the reply. Sorry - meant a rev 5.
I'll look into doing the callibration. Since I'm not too technically savvy, it may just be time to get the synth serviced, since it's my main workhorse.
