SCI Multitrak Problems

Post by synthesizerist » Wed Jun 17, 2009 4:30 pm

My multitrak has some major issues... It won't sound patches except one in unison mode for some odd reason and if you try to change a patch that isn't sounding it won't make a difference and still will not make a sound.

I did some online digging around and found this quote "If instead the instrument goes through a tune routine, counting from 1 to 6 in the Value / Program display, you have a problem." in a FAQ by Trevor Blake and this is exactly what mine does. I just wondered if since this is obviously a known a problem if anyone knew what the cause was (it doesn't go into it further in the FAQ).

Sorry, that quote is referring to what happens on start up it counts through as if it is tuning... But it will also do this randomly while I was trying to get different patches to work or changing parameters.

OK... also I should've mentioned that I already replaced the internal battery hoping that was the problem...

Are you sure it's the right battery? Did you use ESD protection while replacing it?

Try holding down Program Record while hitting 8 and sounding the synth afterwards. If it works, you have a memory corruption issue, most likely due to a flat battery.

Actually, this synth was like this when I got it and I replaced the battery with what was in there. I will try the test and see if that is what the problem is. Thanks!

OK, I held down program record and pressed 8 and only track 2 sounds... I can scroll through different patches and they appear to be working (i.e. the lights over the tracks light up), but there is no sound- even on track 2.

Then I opened it up to see what battery was in there and it was actually replaced with a holder with two 1.5V alkaline batteries. I'm guessing that may be part of the problem?

Thanks for you help!
