I have a Roland JX-8P that one day just froze on me, like the display stopped updating and nothing worked. So, I switched it off, waited a couple of seconds and switched it on again. It passed the keyboard calibration and worked for about 5 seconds, then crashed again.
I suspect something is overheating because I got the feeling it could run for a little longer if I left it off for a while before trying again. Powersupply gone sour and supplying bad voltages?
I know this could be just about anything, not just power supply, but does it by chance sound familiar to anybody?
I'd rather try and fix it myself than leave it to some repair shop. While not being a genious in electronics I did take Electrical Engineering classes in college for about a year before I switched to Computer Science so I know the basics sort of and I can handle soldering irons and oscilloscopes, although I have none
There's no rush with it since it's just taking up room in my closet at the moment but in the event I'd like to use it again it would be nice to know how to fix it.
Any advice?
