Gear Setup Help
I'm setting up my "studio" for recording on my MAC and I want to ask the opinions of those out there in synthland, how should it all be connected?
Here is my list of gear:
Lexicon Omega http://www.lexiconpro.com/product.php?id=6#specs
Elektron Monomachine MK1 http://www.elektron.se/products/?sPage= ... X60MK2.std (this is for MK2)
Korg ESX1 http://www.korg.com/product.aspx?pd=159
Korg MicroKorg http://www.korg.com/Product.aspx?pd=128
Alesis Micron http://www.alesis.com/micron
M-Audio Keystation 49e http://www.topdjgear.com/mke49e49usbm.html
Rane TTM54i http://www.topdjgear.com/rane-ttm-54i.html
Technics 1200 mk2
I want to ensure is that everything syncs to the BPM in Logic Express.
What should I do?
Any help / advice would be great. If you think I need some other piece of equipment, what should I get?
Thanks in advance.

Have you been using it fine all synced up without the computer? If so you should be able to use a similar setup just with the Omega at the start of the midi chain. If you were using the MnM as midi clock master before set it up to be slave now.
There are a whole lot of different ways you could set it up, depending on whether you want to record sequence data from each machine and then have logic play it back or if you want to program the machines and just have them run in sync. You can only record four inputs at a time with the Omega so you can either record everything in mono, record only two instruments at a time or you'll have to submix everything before you record, which defeats the purpose of multitracking.

Re: Gear Setup Help
I've never really had it all synced up before, so this is kind of a first. I want to record audio, not data so I don't think MIDI chaining them is what I want to do, but how do I get them sync'd in Logic?
I want to program the machines and have them run in sync.
If I wanted to record them all in stereo, what piece of hardware would I need?

How do you expect to sync them without midi cables? Magic fairy wires?theattendance wrote:I've never really had it all synced up before, so this is kind of a first. I want to record audio, not data so I don't think MIDI chaining them is what I want to do, but how do I get them sync'd in Logic?

Just kidding, you need to have them all hooked up via midi, with the out of the Omega plugged to the in of the first device, then the thru of that one connected to the in of the next one and so on. Set the midi clock source of each device to External, and make sure you're sending Midi clock out of the correct port from Logic. You might get a bit of a lag using a long midi thru chain, but it shouldn't be too noticeable.
Have a read of the Midi Routing and Timecode pages on the Tweakheadz website to get a bit more of an idea of how to do it. Also if you set up Audio Midi Setup on your Mac (find it in the Applications/Utilities folder) You might find it easier to make sure you're doing the right thing. Here's a couple of links with more info about it:
http://www.showmeprotools.com/apple-ams ... pro-tools/ (Talking about Pro Tools, but works the same for Logic)
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/nov08/a ... s_1108.htm (General info about AMS)
You might find more by googling for Logic-specific information.
An audio interface with enough inputs to have them all plugged in at the same time.theattendance wrote:If I wanted to record them all in stereo, what piece of hardware would I need?

Would they be able to record to different tracks?Stab Frenzy wrote:An audio interface with enough inputs to have them all plugged in at the same time.
