Mac Mini RAM Upgrade?

Post by kylejun06 » Sat Oct 03, 2009 2:31 pm

I'm looking to upgrade my Mac Mini's RAM from 1gb to 4gb. I don't really have much experience with changing ram, but I've seen that it's possible in the Mac Mini, even though it's all closed up. I have one question though:

Will the Mac Mini accept two of these?

Thanks!
Equipment: FL Studio 7, Reason, microKORG, Alesis Multimix 8 USB, Electribe EMX-1 (looking to sell/trade), Edirol PCR-M80, LSDJ, and my precious MXL 990s :]

It depends on the model you have.
Go to http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx and use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool to check compatibility according to your exact model.
Here is a nice tutorial about how to open up your mini mac:

You have to take it all apart to get the ram in, FYI. The older models used to have 1 dimm along the left side but core solo and forward use two sodimm slots on the logic board and you need to pop the superdrive, unscrew all 4 corners of the plastic housing, and be very careful when lifting it up because it has a card attaching to it that powers the HD. Not really a big deal though if you have some time and get a putty knife to open the case.
I like vintage synths....
