Nord Lead 2x problem

Post by thatmullingskid » Fri Oct 09, 2009 7:33 am

Hey everyone

I've lurked here for a while, but I'm a first time poster so hello :P

I've been an owner of a Nord Lead 2X for about a year now and lately it's been acting up.

It'll turn on correctly and function properly for a short period of time and then it'll sort of freeze with random led's lit up and a "0" on the three character display. The unit didn't really do this when I just bought it ( I don't think.. I bought it used).. as far as I know it just sort of gradually came about. At first I thought it had something to do with overheating and moving it from a table to a stand that allowed for better airflow into the bottom vent seemed to solve the problem for a bit, but now even on the stand it will only function properly for about a minute before it freezes..

There's nothing about this in the manual or anything else I've looked at so far.. I hope you guys might know something since I've heard the Clavia customer support is a little on the slow side.

Thanks in advance for any responses

Any way to do a hard reset on it? You may lose all your patches, etc but most synths that have MIDI and an OS can usually be either reloaded or reset...
I like vintage synths....

I'll check into it..
From what I've read on other forums, it may have something to do with the nord lead 2x being so sensitive to the power being supplied to it.. which would make sense since i've been getting new gear gradually and most of it is run in the same room of my apartment. I moved the nord to another room and the problem persisted for a bit and gradually got better over the course of about half an hour or so (???) and now it's working pretty consistently..

hopefully there's a real fix for this though, since this hasn't completely stopped the freezing.
