Kurzweil K2000 Question

Post by Computer Controlled » Sat Dec 26, 2009 9:22 am

Just got a K2000. Curious if anyone knows if you need a certain OS to load up wav files. I have OS 1.00 and cannot seem to load wave files or AIFF files. So i'm guessing i need a later OS.
Synths:
Avalon Bassline . TB-03 . JU-06 . MX-1 . Blofeld . MicroMonsta . Akai S5000
Drum Machines:
TR-09 . TR-8

Are you wanting to load Akai and Roland files? For that I think you will need version 2 or 3.

I believe Version 3 was the first OS version to support MS-DOS disk format, WAV & AIFF(8 or 16 bit) and MID files, and generally was a vast improvement over previous versions for all disk storage functionality. Any upgrade from version 1 requires extra EPROMs, so you'd have to take it to a service center.
I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.

So i got this new K2000, and it turns out, you DO need a newer OS to load wav files via floppy and SCSI. Works like a champ now. Just as i wanted it to. This one has 3.18J software and 10mb of RAM. I'll taking the other one back to the store tomorrow.

Fantastic! So now you are sorted. My K2000r is 3.18J as well so I can load Akai disks from my S3200XL, plus I have some Ensoniq EPS disks that also load into it.
