Help needed to replace Juno 106 battery

I have the Juno open, I'm looking at the battery, but cant get it out. :? Is there a trick here? Is it soldered under the little metal contact tab? Do I have to remove the board? Can some one please guide me thru this? Thanks in advance!

if its a flat, round 'coin cell', you'll be better off removing the board so you can get at the solder under it. Watch the heat ...the battery can explode.

It's a good practice to snip the battery leads to remove the battery and then desolder them from the board to avoid heating up the old battery.

And another tip: instead of buying a replacement solder-in battery, get a battery holder and a regular CR2032 coin battery. If you're in the USA, RadioShack carries them. Solder the holder onto the board, then insert the battery. Future replacements will be as easy as popping the old battery out and popping the new one in! :)

I installed a battery holder and a fresh battery. The Juno now has the same patch in every location. Doesn't write or load. Any ideas?

Is the protect switch on the rear set correctly?

Also, did you install the battery holder and battery with the correct polarity?

The switch was properly set. I followed the procedures in the user's manual. I'm pretty sure the polarity is correct too. Should I try to flip the battery?
