Korg kpr 77 hissy channel

Im going insane, I have a korg kpr 77 and it sounds great, i use it to trigger the sequencer on the roland jx3p, but im having noise issues with the unit. It gives off constant white noise which is coming from the handclap channel, noise is constant but volume increases when you slide the slider upwards, also the clap is heard even with the slider all the way off as is the noise, this is the same slider the unit uses for the cymbal too, but it works in controlling the cymbal level.

Could this be an issue with the handclap voice chip? I have cleaned the slider with contact cleaner to no avail.
