The keys player in the mentioned band has no auto wah effects pedal of any kind and a CX3 is not capable of doing that by himself. That's my guarantee. It has to be something in his rack.

There's a patch that does that in the Eventide H8000FW, just buy one of those.

Auto Wah vrs Talk-Mod vari effect on my RS7000:
Prob be too p***s to get one just for the effects, but my opinion auto wah seems more likely, unless you can find a talk-mod effects unit that automatically sweeps the vowels or can be sequenced in somehow perhaps via sysex or cc messages some how so you don't have to do it manually, it does give a more human like vocalization to the sound.

I know what a band pass filter is.
Thank you to the posters who gave actual examples of hardware and are capable of talking to another human without something to prove. That's what I was looking for. I have no experience with the rs7000 but I've used an h3000. That was a fantastic effects module but probably wouldn't want to use something of that caliber in a live situation. I'd be too afraid.

Hmmm, well if you're looking for something that you can take out live without worrying about you should consider an autowah. Makes the same sound.

Any autowah i've heard or used will not do what I'm looking for.

I think the Boss VF-1 has vocal formant filters which can do those vowel-like sounds, could be worth investigating. The vocal filters in the V-Synth are pretty good at doing that kind of thing. The VF-1 can be had for super cheap because people don't realise how powerful it is and I think editing it puts some people off.

You know what,
That's a really good idea. I've heard a lot of good things about the VF-1 and i've seen a few professional musicians using them live as well. I was actually one of the people that had been put off by it because it was a Boss and was super cheap to be completely honest with you but I think I might try to track one down and see what it can do.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Doesn't your Moogerfooger have a built in envelope follower? I think that would do just fine.

Well, it can't hurt to try more. If you have six knowledgeable people suggesting something, it might be worth it to give a few more a try. Play with the settings.

So you will just program autowah on the vf1 then?
