i just got a yamaha cs 15 on ebay and it seems like its stuck on hold. i dont see a hold or anything on here and its defintely not self oscillating. i have a good amount of analog monos and ive never had this problem. i know im new to this guy and its definately set up a little different than my old korgs and rolands. i am sure its something obvious that i am missing. any help would be much appreciated.

If the CS-15 has a knob called 'Initial Level' turn it all the way down. That may fix it.
I got my CS-5 cheap because it was 'Broken - wont stop droning' -Turns out it was just the Initial level knob.
EDIT: Looks like it does have an Initial level knob so give it a shot.

Is there a "VCA Level" knob? That will create drones on the Evolver. Also, any gate switch?

There actually
is a hold switch, in the VCA section.

Definitely Initial Level knobs... there are TWO of them, one in each VCA section.
It is the source of great joy for synthesists everywhere, as they always seem to be on when someone who doesn't play synthesizer finds a synthesizer, and they always think it's broken and sell it for nothing.

That's interesting. The CS-10 has a switch instead.
