My tr-606 is quite noisy when used with my [radio-shack] power supply so I'd like to run it on batteries. Is there a risk to use rechargeable batteries? If not, then do you recommend a specific model?
It has been years that I haven't used any.

Re: Rechargeable batteries and gear
There's no risk. There is an issue with battery life, though.
Regular alkalines are rated 1.5V per cell. Most rechargeables are rated only 1.2V per cell. That means even when freshly charged rechargeables put out a lower voltage, so as they discharge they reach the device's low voltage point sooner.
As for a brand recommendation, I've been happy with the Eveready Ni-MH batteries and chargers.
Of course, you could just buy a better supply!!! A new Roland supply is probably cheaper than the batteries and charger.

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Yes, just get the Roland plugpack (powersupply), rechargeables can leak just like any normal battery and unless your willing to regularly check them for leakage, I'd rather just use a P/S.
Also, I'm guessing you don't want a damaged 606 to deal with (if you've ever seen battery damage you'd know what I'm talking about).

I've used my su10 now for about a year with no problems with rechargeables. The battery life between charges certainly decreases over time though.
We'll always be remembered, we'll always be dismembered.
